"From the full-color cover, to the many interior glossy photographs of children in various yoga positions, this book is appealing to the eye. It is also full of educational recreational activities that combine two things
children love-animals and movement. Younger children will especially enjoy imitating the positions and shapes of the various animals, plants, and objects that appear in the large photographs throughout the volume. Beginning with the easiest exercises and progressing to the more difficult, the instructions and descriptions are brief but clear. The physical benefits of the poses are stated and the few positions not recommended for children under six are noted. Various ethnic groups and boys and girls are shown practicing. Both children
and adults will appreciate this treasure. Luby makes exercising seem like fun."

Six complete Yoga exercises with over 40 poses
A unique and original new program of yoga especially designed to appeal to children, this book presents six complete, entertaining yoga workouts with over 40 poses for children ages 3 to 12. The exercises and games are based on imitation of animals, natural forms, and interesting manmade objects chosen because of their natural appeal to a child's imagination. A yoga teacher with 17 years of experience, Luby has developed new poses, exercises and games that capture children's enthusiasm for play, learning, and challenging physical activity. Her innovative program stresses the multiple benefits of yoga for children--including improved strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance--while it improves self-confidence and motivation for learning.
The workouts are shown with color photographs of children demonstrating each pose and game, matched with pictures of the animal, object, or form that inspired it--such as a cat stretching, a tulip opening, a tree standing balanced and tall. Activities are graded by difficulty and age, and complete instructions are included that make it easy and fun for adults to teach the activities to one child or a group. Children's Book of Yoga offers parents and teachers a unique and appealing way to encourage early learning of habits and activities that will make a lasting difference in the quality of children's lives.
